Conative states are ubiquitous. These states - their ebb and flow -- weave our internal narratives and form our selves. By attaining awareness of these states, we let go of self.
A chain of thoughts is a million links. Where does it begin and end? This question is based on a misconception of what a thought is. A pure thought is an illusion. Thought melts into affect. Affect melts into thought. Just as there is no point at which consciousness springs into being, there is no beginning to a chain of thoughts.
In a single instant, a thought is bound up with affectivity. Thoughts are embodied.
Art has the capacity to access the affective, embodied dimension of thought directly, unmediated by discursive thought.
We gain access to an ineffable dimension of mystery and wonder.
