"Fade" 2025 8x18"

A dreamlike figure is suspended upside down, rendered in cool blue hues against a textured, pale background. The form seems to hover between presence and dissolution, as if caught in the act of fading. The stark vertical pull of the composition suggests both gravity and release, creating a contemplative atmosphere where weight and lightness coexist. A quiet meditation on impermanence, the piece balances fragility with intensity.
"Grief" was painted shortly after a close friend of mine died unexpectedly. I used restrained, controlled brushwork and an unlayered, smooth surface to emphasize form and tonal relationships rather than painterly texture. Subtle value shifts allow shapes to dissolve into the atmosphere, creating a hushed, melancholy mood. This is an expression of grief's vestige as it melts away, and life goes on.

With a limited palette and direct handling, I aimed for immediacy, letting each deliberate mark define space plainly and without flourish. "Grief" is my quiet, solemn meditation on death.

This image captures a fleeting, weightless moment of a figure suspended mid-air above a wash of abstract foliage. The loose brushwork and soft palette evoke the ephemeral nature of memory, blurring the line between reality and recollection. This image stirs a sense of nostalgia—of endless summer afternoons, childhood freedom, and the dreamlike sensation of flight. The figure’s motion and the open sky suggest a longing for escape, not only from gravity but from time itself.
