"Tree Dwellers" 24x24" oil on canvas
"Granite" oil on canvas, 11x14", 2026
Memento mori in limine, 24x36" oil on canvas 2026

The painting explores the remembrance of death while in liminal spaces.  It depicts mysterious figures working in a serene, moonlit atmosphere.  Subdued precarity emerges with the realization that the workers are beekeepers -- the danger of the bee sting and the ecological danger of losing the bee.
As a kid, I spent a lot of time exploring the woods of NE Tennessee. Imagination blurred into reality. Dusk was a magical transition marked by emerging fireflies, signaling that it was time to head home.
"Gemini" Oil on Canvas, 2026
In this intimate nocturne, a young goat emerges from darkness, illuminated by a stark, almost sacred light. Suspended between visibility and obscurity, the animal confronts the viewer not as symbol, ornament, or pastoral cliché, but as an experiencing center of life—an individual with perception, vulnerability, agency, and goods of its own.

The painting invites sustained attention to the presence of a non-human being whose existence exceeds human use or interpretation. Through stark contrast, quiet atmosphere, and minimal composition, the work evokes both fragility and dignity. The surrounding darkness amplifies the goat’s singular presence, encouraging reflection on consciousness, moral regard, and the often-overlooked interiority of animal life.

"Darker Still" 24x24" 2026
“Harbinger” is an evocative oil painting depicting a solitary figure leaning against a fence, illuminated in stark contrast against the darkened night. The cool, spectral tones and ghostly light create a cinematic atmosphere, hinting at mystery, memory, and forewarning

"Grief" was painted shortly after a close friend of mine died unexpectedly. I used restrained, controlled brushwork and an unlayered, smooth surface to emphasize form and tonal relationships rather than painterly texture. Subtle value shifts allow shapes to dissolve into the atmosphere, creating a hushed, melancholy mood. This is an expression of grief's vestige as it melts away, and life goes on."Grief" is my quiet meditation on death.
